Spread betting is a form of wagering on the outcome of an event, where the payoff is based on the accuracy of the wager rather than a simple win or lose situation.

In sports betting, spread betting involves placing a bet on the point spread of a game, which is the number of points by which the favorite team is expected to win.

The bettor then wagers on whether the favorite team will win by more than the point spread, or if the underdog team will lose by less than the point spread, or win the game outright.

In financial spread betting, the bettor wagers on the movement of financial markets, such as stock prices, commodity prices, or currency exchange rates, with the payoff based on the accuracy of the prediction.
